Accom Booking Web App.

Accom.ai is a smart accommodation booking platform designed to help couples find personalized stays faster and with greater confidence.

The product was initiated after the founder struggled to find relevant, trustworthy information while booking a romantic getaway in Lake Crackenback, Australia. Research revealed that 80% of users experienced similar frustrations — spending excessive time filtering through results and still lacking confidence in their booking decisions.

tHE CHALLENGE

The challenge was to design a system that gives users more control, more clarity, and more confidence — without increasing complexity.

Research

I began by analyzing the founder’s experience and validating assumptions through user interviews and surveys.

Key findings:

  • 80% of participants felt overwhelmed during accommodation search

  • Users rely heavily on maps but struggle with filter clarity

  • Couples prioritize experience-based criteria (ambience, nearby activities) over raw price

  • Booking anxiety peaks during checkout due to unclear policies and cost breakdowns

These insights shaped the product’s core principle:
Support decisions, don’t just display listings.

Wireframes

I created low-fidelity wireframes to structure the core flows:

  • Homepage search entry

  • Search results with live map

  • Filter panel with structured categories

  • Property detail page

  • Booking and checkout flow

  • My Bookings dashboard

  • Profile settings

My focus at this stage was information hierarchy and interaction logic, not aesthetics.

Key structural decisions:

  • Persistent search bar across pages

  • Real-time map updates when filters change

  • Login triggered only at booking stage

Transparent cost breakdown before payment

Key Design Decisions

Decision 1 — Context-Based Filtering

Instead of only offering technical filters (price, beds, bathrooms), I introduced:

  • Occasion-based filtering (e.g., romantic getaway)

  • Style preferences

  • Nearby activities

  • Comfort vs convenience sorting

This aligns with how couples actually think about trips — emotionally first, logically second

Decision 2 — Real-Time Map Feedback

The map dynamically updates as filters are applied.

Why?
Location is often the biggest regret factor in accommodation bookings.
Immediate visual feedback helps users understand trade-offs before committing.

What I Learned

This project strengthened my product-strategy thinking, highlighting that search should reduce cognitive load, context matters more than extra features, checkout transparency builds trust, and filters must reflect emotional—not just functional—intent.

Accom.ai demonstrates my ability to combine research, system thinking, and UI execution to design products that solve real decision-making problems — not just interface challenges.
